The Case for Wearing Pants (and Eating Breakfast)

With high unemployment, having a steady job working from home should feel like a luxury. Chances are, staying productive at your job may be more difficult. The distractions we face in our day to day have taken on a whole new meaning in our current times.

If you are now working from home, you may find that it is easier to put in lower quality of work and become, in some cases, complacent. After all, it’s been months of children, pets, TV shows, and many other distractions in front of you that make it harder to give your full attention to your work.

That’s why it is important to take the time to reflect on what you value most. If you get a sense of identity from performing well at your job, losing that can be disorienting as time goes on. On the other hand, feeling useful and productive often can be an antidote to difficult feelings like isolation and depression.

  • One way to boost your productivity is by maintaining your routine of getting dressed for work while at home. Challenging yourself to maintain this routine step in your working from home days does not have to be too much extra work. Just put one foot after the other.

  • We’ve all heard it, a healthy breakfast ensures you have energy to meet the day.

  • You might notice scheduling additional time to interact with your supervisor and coworkers makes you feel a little less disconnected in your home setting.

  • That, and more structured breaks throughout your day can make you feel a little more at ease with all the changes around you.

These suggestions may not seem necessary right now, but give it a chance and tell me how you feel. You can do this! Keep reading more at this link: https://www.flexjobs.com/blog/post/how-to-structure-your-day-when-working-from-home/
